Woodturning

About Dan

For as long as I can remember, I have always been intrigued by wood.  As a child, I spent many hours by the camp-fire, watching the elements move from the logs to the embers of the flame.
This evolved into my passion for working with wood as an adult. Sculpting wood carving
it and eventually, woodturning.

Woodturning is a form of woodworking used to create wooden objects on a lathe. It differs from most other forms of woodworking, in that the wood is moving while a stationary tool is used to cut and shape it.
There's something quite primal about the woodturning technique, passed down from generation to generation.  From the moment I first started woodturning 20 years ago, it has been a true passion.

My work lies on the axis of traditional and contemporary, and I strive to create pieces that are both useful and aesthetic.
I source all my wood just from raw materials that are derived only from trees cut down legally as permissible by law.
